Eco Active's new office

E-mail Print PDF

Our office construction has been an interesting project for us in practising ecologically responsible building design and has allowed us to prototype construction techniques for pre-fabricated building construction.
The structure is made from cool room panels and hot dip galvanised frame components, with double glazed window units salvaged from Deli fridges to maximise thermal efficiency of the building. The compact layout aims to provide an efficient work space from which to run our business, while requiring minimal energy requirements for heating, cooling and lighting. What we have learnt from the process has added a further dimension to the products Eco Active offers and has led to further work in the construction of a residential studio utilising similar methods of construction.

89 Pirie St Adelaide

The Solar Power installation at 89 Pirie St Adelaide required detailed CAD design to achieve the system size desired by the client, on a commercial roof space with numerous potential sources of shading. Use of high quality Schott panels and high efficiency SMA transformerless inverters further optimised yearly system outputs. All equipment had to be crane lifted to the 10 storey high rooftops leaving no room for mistakes or miscalculations. As well as the solar PV installation, Eco Active also installed a large solar hot water system to the building. The 90 tube Apricus Evacuated Tube system is predicted to supply 65% of water heating requirements throughout the year, thereby significantly reducing greenhouse admissions at the site.
